Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f / 1.8G lens is a fast, compact FX format medium telephoto lens. Although optimized for the FX format digital SLR camera, the lens is equally good at serving any Nikon DX-format digital SLR camera. The combination of a telephoto design and a fast f/1.8 aperture makes it an excellent choice for shooting still and high-definition video in low light conditions. Available light shooters will enjoy the wide-angle effect of taking intimate portraits; the focus object will remain sharp, while the distracting background will melt into a pleasing soft blur. When mounted on a DX-format digital SLR camera, this 85mm main unit provides an appreciable focal length of approximately 127mm. The lens has a silent wave motor technology (AFS) and built-in focus function, enabling fast and quiet autofocus without changing the lens length, thus maintaining a working distance over the entire focal length range. Silent Wave Motor uses ultrasonic (aural) vibration to replace the gear system to focus the lens, providing beautifully smooth, silent and accurate autofocus operation. When fine manual focusing is required, simply rotate the lens focus ring. The M/A mode switch provides seamless coverage of the AF system with little time delay! Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC) improves light transmission and provides better color consistency and minimized flash. The AF-S 85mm f / 1.8 is light, fast and easy to carry.
