The Melanchthonhaus in Lutherstadt Wittenberg with the broad-tiered gables on the left side is one of numerous world heritage sites in the region. Philipp Melanchthon lived and worked in this townhouse in the 16th century.

You can see Melanchthon as a reformer of the education system in the same way as you see Martin Luther as a reformer of the church. He was, so to say, a humanistic opposite which does not mean that Luther and Melanchthon worked against each other. In contrary, when Luther translated the New Testament, it was Melanchthon who corrected his work.
