University of York 3MT 2016 Final

University of York 3MT 2016 Final
Ten research students have just three minutes to communicate the impact of their research, effectively and concisely, to a non-specialist audience. Communicating to different audiences helps demonstrate the contribution that research makes to wider society and the economy. The University of York 3MT® is a chance for our research students to engage and enthuse a range of learners about their research and, especially in the case of high school learners, perhaps even inspire them to attend a research-rich institution in the future. The 3MT event will also feature the North Yorkshire Coast Higher Education Collaboration's Give Me Five Competition, which develops pupils' research and presentation skills and enhances their understanding of research in a university environment. NYCHEC is a collaboration between the Universities of Hull, York and York St John, working together to support schools in Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. Guest Speakers: Dr Ruth Penfold-Mounce, Department of Sociology, University of York Dr Tom Hartley, Department of Psychology, University of York
