Swinging Songs: Lives & Legends of the Great American Songbook

Gershwin. Irving Berlin. Duke Ellington. Join songstress Corinne Mammana as she takes you on a musical journey through the lives and legends of some of the most brilliant composers from The Great American Songbook. Sophisticated and colorful arrangements by 8 time Grammy nominated jazz guitarist, Frank DiBussolo will be accompanying Corinne's stunning vocals.    "Mammana applies her superior technique gracefully, carefully, tastefully and intelligently... There's nothing forced here, which is as it should be, and she fits in wonderfully with DiBussolo's understated guitar," describes Bruce Klauber of JazzTimes.    Don't miss this class-act duo in an afternoon of Swinging Songs: Lives and Legends of The Great American Songbook.

"Corinne Mammana bridges a sometimes difficult gap between what is obviously her seriously and classically trained vocal instrument, as applied to a lightly swinging book of songs. Her superb technique is a dead giveaway. But Mammana applies her superior technique gracefully, carefully, tastefully and intelligently," describes Bruce Klauber in a recent article in JazzTimes.    The songstress originally hails from the Philadelphia area and holds an extensive theatre background including several appearances off-Broadway. She is passionate about fusing together jazz, Broadway and classical music. Corinne most recently appeared on WFMZ 69 News for Music Monday with Eve Tannery, which included a live television performance with 8 time Grammy nominated guitarist Frank DiBussolo (http://www.wfmz.com/news/Music-Monday-Corinne-Mammana/25467594). In the Lehigh Valley, Corinne can be found performing with her jazz quartet and duo twice a month at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. Another frequent stop is the charming Jessica's Tea Room in Northampton. Corinne also enjoys performing for local charity events, including the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Night at the Theatre and the Saucon Valley Rotary Club Casino Night. Other Lehigh Valley appearances include Allentown Symphony Hall, Lafayette Jazz Bar and Godfrey Daniels.    Off-Broadway, Corinne performed solo at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre and Golden Fleece Ltd, and regionally at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia.  In the Philadelphia region, Corinne performed leading and supporting roles at Media Theatre, The Red Room at Society Hill Playhouse, City Theatre Company and the Philly Fringe Festival, as well as Cole Porter and Gershwin Concerts with pianist Joe Benedict. Off stage, Corinne enjoys sharing her passion for music with the younger generation teaching private voice and piano lessons. She received classical and musical theatre voice training from James Madison University (2007 Bachelor of Music Degree, Music Theatre emphasis).   Bruce Klauber writes, "There's nothing forced here, which is as it should be, and she fits in wonderfully with DiBussolo's understated guitar. If there's a cooler version out there than Mammana's version of Jobim's "Agua De Beber," then it just hasn't been recorded yet."   To read the full article on JazzTimes, please visit: http://jazztimes.com/community/articles/130165-a-profile-of-vocalist-corrine-mammana
