Great game with a unique approach to RPG combat., December 3, 2014

This review is from: Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed - PlayStation 4 (Video Game)

The game is very fun in my opinion. It's a good RPG with some challenging elements to the combat where you have to strip the opponent down with different button combinations. Story starts off as you an Otaku trying to get a rare action figure, so you get a mysterious email for some strange job. Go for an interview and end up in some basement laboratory...from there it only gets crazier but I won't spoil it.

It's also somewhat free roaming like the Yakuza series on PS2 and PS3. Infact it has that vibe to it. Take a Modern JRPG, Shenmue, Yakuza, a dash of Jet Grind Radio and a topping of an over the top anime and this is what you'll get. The story is hilarious and pretty entertaining. The Graphics isn't something to be proud of but then again this game wasn't made for PS4 in mind and it's one of those games where you probably should be more concerned with the story and combat anyway. (It is originally a PS vita game.) The game also have a host of graphical filters and options to the point you can change your character colors. I think it's worth the and will keep you entertained from start to finish. Hopefully even though this probably won't sale as much I would love to see other strong JRPG titles to come to PS4. Maybe even a sequel with improved graphics akin to some of the Naruto Storm games. Anyway I enjoy the game and you should give it a shot.

Akiba's trip is a truly great game, once you get past the initial shock of defeating enemies by stripping them, the story is well written and allows the player to affect the final outcome, the dialogue is well written but the cut-scenes could be improved. it is a game that i started with low expectations but the game with it's love-able characters, great story and witty has put it in my all time top 5 games. the mark of a good game is that you are so immersed in the game that you do not wish it to end and when it does you can't wait for the sequel and in my opinion Akiba's trip fulfils both of those

Time to Strip, December 27, 2014

This review is from: Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed - PlayStation 4 (Video Game)

No complaints on this game, everything I wanted and more. I was worried when I watched some of the battle system videos, but the game is Extremely easy to play even on the normal difficulty. As for the battle system just plan out your strip combos and your set, it's as easy as just not stripping someone too early. I should say that this game is addicting if your heavy into the subcultures of Japan, and probably SUPER weird if your into the norms of japan. Basically it's like some one took all the weird, crazy, and cool stuff from Japanese entertainment and put it into a strip fighting, anime rpg, virtual tour. Yeah I'm smiling an hour after I've played. Another great thing about this game is that if your not into button smashing and you like well thought out live action battle schemes, you won't rage quit or get tired. It's smooth game play, and if you make a mistake you'll be able to play through again so don't sweat it. Do save regularly at least after every few missions and before each arena fight, the game does throw some curve balls.
Any one that enjoys Gal Games will like this as well, the outcome of the game is based on this system similar to Chathrine.
Looks Like I may have a new favorite game.
